Welcome to ClipArts.Net
A website on design resources.
Clipart is a useful tool for a variety of
important projects, ranging from power point presentations
to designing websites and even completing arts and crafts
activities. Basically, clipart can be defined as any already
created picture or image used as illustration. It can be
electronic but is also often used in print form. Sometimes
clipart is drawn by hand, and other times it is created over
the computer. No matter where it is created or whether it
ends up being used online or in print, today's clipart is
almost exclusively copied and distributed electronically.
Clipart has expanded over the past decade, and
now is categorized in a more accurate and thorough manner
than in years past. Today's clipart falls into categories
based on format, artistic style, type of image portrayed,
medium through which is created (distinguishing whether
clipart is illustrated by hand or on the computer), medium
of the clipart itself (whether it is turned into a print
version or electronic version), and how the clipart is
marketed and distributed following its production.
There are two main clipart formats for clipart files. The
first type is known as bitmap, a name that refers to a
picture made up of an array of pixels. One way to think of
bitmap is picturing the "airbrush" tool that
disperses color in the program Paint. When you use airbrush,
you are not creating a geometric shape or following any type
of pattern whatsoever.
The other data type,
vector art, uses mathematically based lines and geometric
shapes to make images. This is like Paint's line tool or the
polygon tool found on the program.
Clipart is
often perceived as "free," but this isn't always
true. Public domain clipart can be used and distributed for
no cost, but distributing royalty-free or rights managed
clipart without paying for the rights may be not
allowed.
